Another reason I love Magi Nation so much, they have the most unusual  )

Now I know why I've been unable to keep myself on track lately, my brain has been cooking. Hooray for fevers. Which of course lead to yet another barely under the wire submission. *goes off and crashes*

ETA: The actual card if you're interested.

Gotta admit, I kinda cheated on this one. It's been sitting on my hard drive partially done for some months now, but not so far along that a few touch ups would finish it. Only the back part of the body close to the stem-tail was more or less done, the rest needed the final lineart and colors. Beyond completing something that should have been done for a while, I kinda burned myself out a little yesterday and the day before and needed a little bit of a break.

A Magi Nation piece this time, a dream creature from Orothe and Weave. This is just fannish concept work for the rest of the body, since the card shows only its' head and neck. The idea is that much of its' body is buried or half-buried, with its' feet and the end of its' tail acting like the holdfast of most seaweeds (which fascinatingly enough, all belong to a certain group of algae) and literally root the lascinth in place.

Re-offering requests and prompts. If there's something you want to see drawn, let me know. No promises, but I'm afraid of running out of ideas before the month is up and this'll be a help to me. Though hopefully I do get bit enough that I can follow through on a request, and feel free to get as detailed as you want.

Stuff under here )
(Also, what's with the new posting set up? It's not very photobucket picture friendly. Or just posting friendly, it keeps messing everything up. I would be screwed if I didn't know some basic html.)

One of the reasons I've not posted much work lately is that I'm getting ready for an event this friday called an Art Walk. Downtown Traverse City shops are opening all their doors and celebrating their artists, and the art gallery I mentioned a couple of posts ago (with whom I now have a soft contract with) is one of them. Besides that last showing, this is going to be the first time a lot of my stuff will be displayed for the public to see.

And holy hell am I hating this. Yes it's good, I'm getting publicity and possibly making some cash, but I'm used to people outside the internet hating my merfolk (art teachers and grandmothers alike). And my art during my school years was liable to vanadlism if I didn't keep it with me at all times, not even the art teachers' desks kept them safe. So...yeah, I'm nervous as a mouse in a catnip factory.

Yes, they really did.
